#10

Well I knew I wasn't gonna be able to pick just one album for each post because I really feel like the music scene was at its peak during the early 2000's and I honestly think bands will never bring this type of movement back because lets be honest everyone during these days wanted to be "scene", not necessarily dress scene but be involved in some way but the music scene had a huge impact on kids and myself growing up. So I basically chose between 5-4 albums a post that I felt were damn good enough to be on the list. I noticed that I had quite a few favorites that came out in 1999 so and I think that list should be easier to make so I'll be posting a top ten favorite of 1999, geez that feels like forever ago. Well heres the first post #10...

Armor For Sleep (2001-2009) - Dream To Make Believe released June 3rd 2003

This album could definitely be ranked higher but I'm not gonna make this top ten list an easy one, I really enjoy listening to this album, its a shame this band broke up this album has never been left out of rotation on my ipod since it came out. I remember I saw them at Showcase in Corona and they put on a great show, I think every band should go back to those old venues they used to play at with 100 people instead of 3,000 people in a stadium it just goes to show that you haven't forgotten your roots.

Favorite song - Raindrops
"Suffocate me, all you need,
I won’t breathe but it’s okay
You’ll be somewhere around me
And I won’t need air"

Rufio (2001 - present) Perhaps I Suppose... released June 1st 2002

If any band disappointed me with their sophomore album release it was these guys they've released nothing but garbage since this cd, I remember picking up this album at a local shop called Filthy's that my old band used to perform at, the opening guitar intro at the time was just something that not many people had heard and it caught your attention very quickly. Great album for the time of its release.

Favorite song - Road To Recovery
"Well he lost control and gave up his heart.
To follow the girl that he's always dreamed of.
She pulled away so scared of a love
That might have been more than she had planned on."

Beloved (US) (2003 - 2005) - Failure On released June 12th 2003

Always enjoyed listening to this album one of my all time favorites, I think they could have put out some more albums but their lead singer ended up getting married. I'd highly encourage anyone to buy this album its worth the money.

Favorite Song - Allure
"Hold close now.
It's your only assurance
of controlling the outcome of this ending.
Is it ending or just leaving us
tired and waiting?
You're chasing the reasons
revolving in circles of questions
we've all tried to answer for ourselves.
The answer's already inside us,
just listen
and maybe you'll find an answer
you don't want to hear.
It's only your diversions that keep it away.
Just open your eyes to see.
Finally you'll understand to fill this void,
empty out entirely what's standing now."

Taking Back Sunday (1999 - present) Tell All Your Friends released March 26th 2002

I actually have some pretty fond memories of this cd, it reminds me of a certain summer that I discovered drinking (which isn't a good thing and i've given up drinking for a good 2 years now) and some old/new friends that lived around me. I think Taking Back Sunday has proved themselves to be a consistent force in the music industry and even with them getting bigger they still haven't changed their style which is rare to say for bands who "sell out" as we sometimes like to put it even though their just trying to all make a living.

Favorite Song - Ghost Man On Third
"Jynx me something crazy
Thinking an event through
Then I'm as smooth as the skin
Rolls across the small of your back
It's too bad it's not my style
If you need me
I'm out and on the parkway
Patient and waiting for headlights
Dressed in a fashion that's fitting to the
Inconsistencies of my moods"
